FINALLYYYY!! I get to post the “wedding prep” blog that I have been d-y-i-n-g to share but obviously had to wait until after our wedding day!! MY DRESS!!! I am so excited to be sharing the story of my dress + it’s creator with you today!!! (To see previous wedding prep posts, click here, here, or here).
I first heard of Monica when my best friend, Ann Marie, got married last summer + wore her grandmother’s dress for her wedding (how AMAZING is that?!)!! The dress needed some major alterations, so Ann Marie got connected with Monica of Monirose-Bespoke Gowns to do the job. Of course, the dress turned out AMAZING + Ann Marie couldn’t say enough good things about the beautiful heart + business of Monica herself : )
When I moved back to Madison to officially launch the photography business, Monica got in contact with me + befriended me right away as someone I could go to in the wedding industry here for help, guidance, advice, etc.!! She was wonderful + getting to know her was so life-giving. Naturally, the more I got to know her + the heart behind her business, the more I fell in love + knew that one day, Monica was going to make MY wedding dress!!
Lo and behold, November of 2013 rolled around + CALEB PROPOSED : ) I said yes (!!!!) + wedding plans were underway!! Monica was one of the first vendors I contacted + soon after, we met up for coffee to beginning dreaming + envisioning what my dress would look like!! I looked at + felt TONS of gorgeous fabrics + laces while Monica listened + sketched up the dress of my dreams : ) Over the next several months, we met periodically to solidify fabrics, take measurements, + simply chat about life + owning a business : ) I loved every minute.

While I didn’t have the typical dress shopping experience, I was still able to share in super special moments with my mom, sister, + bridesmaids throughout the process. At each appointment, I had at least had one or two people with me to help choose laces, see the progress, + oogle over Monica’s incredible talent!! And when it was all finished, at the “final reveal”, everyone was able to be there to see me in the dress for the first time, complete with champagne toasts + all!! : )
What I loved most about my experience with Monirose-Bespoke Gowns was that I was able to create + bring to life the exact dress that I wanted!! From the fit, to the length … train … lace … back style … every last detail was chosen by me. And created specifically for me + my body. Now that is not something you get in a bridal store!! The process was fun + super unique, + supporting Monica, mom of three (soon-to-be-four!!!!), + incredibly talented bridal seamstress who literally makes these gowns from scratch (still blows my mind!!), is a really beautiful thing : )
So enjoy some of the images from the process–I really wish I would have taken more pictures throughout!!–and after it is all finished on our wedding day!! Thank you, Monica, for creating exactly what I asked for : ) And for your charm, kindness, + grace!! You are an absolutely stunning + oh, SO beautiful woman!
Have a lovely Monday, all!! xo! -M
Can you believe this is how it all started?!?!
