Skylar + Laura | Married | An Arizonian Desert Eastern Orthodox Wedding.

January 1, 2015

Here they are!! Our last couple of 2014!! We are convinced that the year could not have ended any better. Skylar + Laura are truly two of the gentlest, sweetest, + most beautiful couples (inside + out!!) that you will ever meet. We have been blessed beyond measure at the opportunity to get to know them + their story over the past several months + truly feel honored to have been a small part of their journey up to this point!! S+L—THANK YOU, for letting us document your incredible love.

It was a little over a year ago when their love story began. Both independently (+ successfully) pursuing their professional careers, as well as God’s plan for their lives, at the same time. Laura had just moved to New York to begin yet another Master’s Degree in theology when Skylar started attending her home church in Phoenix, AZ after his move to the city for his new job. The pastor of this church (James) had known Laura for years + years (+ was actually a driving force behind her move to NY!), however the moment he met Skylar, he knew the two had to be introduced.

Laura is fresh in New York.

Skylar is fresh in Phoenix.

Father James is trying to figure out how these two can possibly cross paths.

Luckily, Laura was coming home for her best friend’s wedding + Father James arranged for the two of them to meet briefly during her short time back in Phoenix. I think I’m just going to make the assumption that it was love at first sight, because although these two only met for 10 minutes in person that very first time, they kept in touch after Laura was back in New York. Texting + online chatting turned into phone calls which then turned into long Skype conversations. They were in love, destined by something outside of themselves to be together. And that’s when Laura moved back to Phoenix.

Skylar eventually proposed + let me tell you, I’ve never seen so many people so supportive + so certain that two people were meant to be together. Parents, friends, family, + of course, Father James, shared stories upon stories upon stories with us, with each other, + then with all in attendance at the wedding, of the true match made in Heaven that Skylar + Laura are.

After meeting them the very first time during their engagement session in Madison, we knew there was something different about these two (I wrote all about it in their engagement blog post here). So to see them finally become husband + wife was, in all sincerity, such a beautiful + emotional experience!! A day so tender, so joyful, so intentional. We praise God along with Skylar, Laura, their friends + family, for His plan + love story for the two of them!! I apologize for the novel—now, please, go enjoy some of our FAVORITES from their day!!
