The Details of Your Day | For Brides Series | Things To Have Ready When We Arrive.

January 9, 2015

As always, we are so thrilled to be continuing our “For Brides” Series on the blog today!! If this is your first time to the blog, or to this specific series, let me fill you in on our purpose behind it! “For Brides” was created with the soon-to-be-bride in mind. The one who is currently reveling over the details of her upcoming wedding day, meticulously planning her timeline, excitedly calling her bridesmaids + dreaming of her photographs. She does not have to be an MMP bride by any means!! Just one who is looking forward to her day : )

In this series, we are offering tips + tricks to help make the wedding day flow as smoothly as possible (trust us, having a timeline game plan makes your day 1,000 times more enjoyable!!), as well as advice on how to get the photos you are hoping for (this takes planning, too, believe it or not!!) As much as we sometimes like to think (+ hope!) everything just happens perfectly + the photography aspect of your day takes no planning whatsoever, we have found that this just isn’t the case! Those who plan, are intentional about, + make time for their photos seem to ENJOY the experience so much more + have the best results with their images!!

Now that I’ve revisited our purpose behind the “For Brides” series, let’s get to today’s topic: the details. You know, those little, teenie-tiny things that make your day, YOUR day? Like your grandmother’s handkerchief or the wedding date your mom sewed in the bottom of your dress? Or the shoes you couldn’t help but splurge on because they were just so perfect?! Or the gorgeous bouquets, handwritten letters, new scent you’re wearing for the first time, invitations announcing your big day? Those details : ) They are some of our favorites to shoot because they tell your story.

Today we’ve created a list of things to think about compiling before we arrive on your wedding day!! We usually recommend allotting us around 60 minutes to shoot these details, + we are even more grateful if they are all together in one place when we show up on your day!! It helps make things go super smoothly + that much more efficiently!! We tend to take the details into a different space (so we are out of your hair!!) + photograph them there, so placing everything into a box or bag is just the icing on the cake ; ) Don’t forget about your groom–while his details might not be as numerous, they are just as important. Here is a list of everything we recommend gathering before your day:

  • Wedding Dress (with nice hanger)
  • Veil
  • Shoes (both his + hers)
  • Jewelry
  • Perfume
  • Flowers (bouquets + boutonnieres)
  • Stationery Suite (invites, programs, etc)
  • Rings
  • Bridesmaid Dresses (with hangers)
  • Other special heirlooms unique to your day
  • Tie
  • Tie Clip
  • Cuff Links
  • Cologne
  • Socks
  • Belt
  • Anything else unique to the groom (sunglasses, heirlooms, special razor or shaving kit, etc)

And of course, what would this blog post be without images as examples!? We love (like, l-o-v-e the details) + are certain you will be thankful you had these special pieces of your day captured professionally!!
