Oh, Huatulco. Before planning our honeymoon, neither of us even knew you existed!! But my goodness, are we glad we found you! Our honeymoon, spent lying on your gorgeous beaches, exploring your exotic terrain, + basking in your perfect sunny weather, was a DREAM! I only hope more of the world will get the opportunity to experience you : )
Okay, okay, Iβm done with that ; ) hehe! Today on the blog, we are sharing some of our favorite images from our honeymoon last week to Huatulco, Mexico! We heard we missed a brutally cold week in Wisconsin (can I say, yahoo!!!!?!) + are so glad we waited until February to make our special getaway : ) Everything worked out just perfectly!
We stayed at the Secrets Resort + Spa + spent our days relaxing by the beach or pool (I prefer beach, Caleb prefers pool), dining out, swimming, + best of all, spending unplugged, uninterrupted time with one another : ) It really is crazy how you can keep falling more + more in love with a person as time goes on!! We are feeling refreshed + ready to keep on hustlinβ! There is lots to get done before our busy season arrives in May + we are ready : )!!!
As far as the rest of this blog post goes, I think it will be easier to talk about our trip as we go through the pictures together : ) So, enjoy! And thanks for stopping by today : ) xoxo, M : )
Just after we landed!! Welcome to the Huatulco airport!!
So happy (+handsome!!) to be here!! The next few are shots of the resort–everything is essentially outdoors since they have at least 330 days of sunshine a year!!!
We arrived on Valentine’s Day + they had tons of little Valentine/heart touches all throughout the resort : )
Time to head to the beach!!! Thanks to the most adorable woman ever for this photo π
I mean …. !!!! <3 <3 <3
Every morning we would go to the Coffee Shop for homemade Mochaccinos + Chai Tea Lattes made by Mathilda!! Best barista ever!
Some days were spent by the pool!!
Pictured below are two of the resort’s restaurants + the spa (far right)!
On Wednesday we took a tour of some of the local towns (called the 3 Levels Tour), starting out at the First Level, which was a town on one of the bays!! Snorkeling in parts of the coral reef is doable in most of the bays!! And we were able to earlier in the week : ) So amazing!
The next town was higher up the mountain (Level 2) + was actually the county seat! This town, Santa Maria Huatulco, is over 430 years old!!
So much color : ) I love it!
The final city was all the way up in the Third Level where we were 4500 meters above sea level in the “cloud forest”! As you can probably tell, the state of Oaxaca is the most biodiverse state in all of Mexico!!
We began in the final city (Pluma Hidalgo) at a local coffee plantation where we learned all about the incredibly intense + admirable process of producing truly gourmet coffee!!! On the left is our tour guide, Alberto : )
The owner : ) in love : )!!
Then we got to try it!! (+ of course, buy some to take home!!!!)
One of the locals randomly offered us a tour of her home; pictured to the left–her kitchen.
The final stop in our tour of the 3rd city was to another woman’s home. She has been growing an orchid garden in her “backyard” for more than 25 years! Orchids are her passion + she has over a hundred different species from all around the world. Just amazing!!! I couldn’t believe it.
She uses anything + everything to grow her flowers …
… like beer cans + soccer balls!!
The woman behind the masterpiece!!
The next day, Caleb learned how to sail!!
And at night we did some more exploring of a nearby uninhabited/untouched bay!!
Sunrise on our last morning : )
The resort around dusk was just breathtaking!!
Cheers to an AMAZING honeymoon!! (*No cameras were harmed in the taking of this photo) ; )
