The beautiful couple featured on the blog today – their love story is six years in the making! What began as a casual, on-again-off-again high school relationship, has turned into a forever love story that we are so honored to help tell!! A story that began in Dubuque, Iowa + has taken these two all over the world!! Eric played basketball internationally until just about two years ago, so these two have really experienced the long distance relationship game!! No amount of miles or bodies of water between them would prevent them from loving + pursuing one another while dating over the past six years, however : ) I LOVE that!!

Speaking of pursuing one another, one thing that Emily loves is hand-written love letters from her favorite guy : )!! On every special occasion, these two write them to one another as an opportunity to express their love + gratitude for each other (such a good idea)!! This past January, while skiing together at Chestnut Hill in Galina, IL, Eric gave Emily a love letter that would change her life forever : )

It was the last night of the trip + the two decided to go out for a romantic dinner together! On the way back from dinner to the chalet, Eric handed Emily a note that he had “forgotten” to give her at Christmas (redeeming himself big time because she was kinda sad that he forgot to write her a note that year)! So sneaky! Anyway, she started reading the note + when she flipped the page to begin reading the back side of the note, it was Eric’s cue to get down on one knee : ) He proposed, she obviously said YES!, + then both of their moms appeared from around the corner squealing (they are best friends + had been secretly taking pictures of the proposal)!! Everyone was overjoyed + Eric told Emily, “We actually need to go back to the restaurant now!” He had rented out the whole top floor + surprised Emily with a party filled with all of their family + friends!! A unforgettable, life-changing night!!! I love it!!

Although originally from Dubuque, these two now live in Madison (+ thank goodness, are Packer fans!!), so we met them downtown for their session last week!! It was a gorgeous fall evening + we had a blast hanging out with these two! : ) Enjoy some of our favorites from their session – let me tell you, it was SO hard to choose!!!
