There’s some sort of saying about “when a grown man cries” … am I right? But what about a grown man who is a retired NFL football player + whose wedding ring is so large that I can fit two of my fingers in it … what about when he cries?! You know it’s over something powerful. In our experience, last Saturday evening as the sun set over Lake Mendota behind them, this grown man — no matter how hard he tried — couldn’t fight back the tears as he spoke words over his soon-to-be wife. His promises to her … his road to find her … and his love for her. It was one of those breath-taking moments that did something to my heart. And as a photographer, reminded me again, so tangibly, of how important our job is, + the weight of the once-in-a-lifetime moments we are capturing.

Derek + Nina are an outwardly beautiful pair. I mean, just wait until you see Nina. She is ridiculously beautiful!! But of course, this pair isn’t just outwardly beautiful. They have beautiful souls that have finally found each other + are better together than they could ever be apart. They are playful + sassy, yet romantic + intimate in their moments alone. The way that Derek gazes at Nina is something that can’t be missed when you’re in their presence. And I mean, on their wedding day, when she’s looking as GORGEOUS as ever, can you blame him!? They just compliment each other SO well : )

We are so thankful to have met you, Derek + Nina, + to have been able to experience the commitment you made to one another at your wedding surrounded by your closest family members — what an honor. Thank you : ) We wish you two + your sweet family a hundred more years of love + happiness!!!! xoxo!
