My goodness are we ending the season with some AMAZING engagement sessions! I am so excited for you guys to meet Joel + Taylor today! A couple who will melt your heart, + whose sweetness is only magnified by their seriously long distance relationship! Taylor lives here in Madison with us (not literally with us, but in the same city ; ) hehe!) while Joel lives in Miami, Florida. They get to see each other every two months or so, + then for a span of seven weeks in the middle of the winter. Joel … is a baseball player. And baseball players have reallllyyy long seasons!! So as you can imagine, the time they do get to spend together is always super intentional + as Caleb + I witnessed at their engagement session, full of hugs, snuggles, + this awareness they seem to share of the importance of just BEING present in each other’s presence. Photographing them was an absolute treat + we are so, so honored to capture these sweet seasons of togetherness in Joel + Taylor’s relationship right now!! Can you imagine their wedding day!?!? : )

When we met for their session, Joel had actually only been home to Wisconsin for five days I think — is that right Joel!? Anyway, these two were just SO happy to finally be together again : ) They’ve actually been together for over seven years since they first started dating in high school!! For their proposal, Joel really wanted to surprise Taylor + according to her, it wasn’t that hard because Joel is super romantic in general/all the time, so the date he planned on the night he proposed to her wasn’t too out of the ordinary! She was visiting him on one of her bi-monthly trips to Florida + it was an afternoon that he had planned a couples’ massage to start things out; she wasn’t expecting anything. He then took her to the beach where he had had his friends/teammates set up a romantic picnic on the beach — cooked dinner ready + all! At this point, Taylor thought that maybe he was going to propose, but they shared the meal together + it didn’t happen, so she was convinced it wasn’t going to happen that day! They got back to the hotel later that night + Joel then told Taylor he had one more surprise for her : ) He got down on one knee + asked her to marry him! She was completely caught off guard but overjoyed (!), + it was the perfect ending to their day together : )
