We often get questions from brides about what photographs well when it comes to their wedding day — from colors, to styles, to locations — because their photos are a very important part of their day + ultimately, they trust our opinion/experience!! It obviously makes us SO happy to answer questions like this + help our clients create the wedding day of their dreams!! And … I mean, great photos … those are ALWAYS a top priority in our book!! Hehe : )
Today we wanted to share a tip about something that we believe has a SUPER powerful impact on the way a wedding reception photographs … the CHAIRS!! Chairs?! Who cares about chairs!? We agree that this may not seem the most obvious detail when you’re planning the décor for your reception space. BUT, if you think about it, the chairs you choose to use for your wedding reception will be in EVERY reception photo from your day!! They will not just be in the detail images of your reception space, but also in the shots taken during the toasts, the first dance photos, + any other candid moments captured from the reception through the remainder of the night!! They are, in fact, a huge portion of the background!! So, when couples spend a lot of time, + put a lot of thought into choosing their centerpieces, reception details, linens, table numbers, + then not the chairs, it can really take away from the entire aesthetic of the space + then ultimately the photographs!!
There are lots of ways to keep your chairs looking pretty for the reception: chair covers, sashes or bowes, or even just choosing chairs that look beautiful on their own!! With so many options, I truly believe that couples can achieve this look no matter what their budget!! Finally, in my opinion, the easiest way to show the transformative power of reception chairs is through imagery so you can actually SEE what we’re talking about!! Below are examples from weddings we’ve recently shot in which the couples put a lot of thought into what chairs they were going to have at their reception!!
Compared to the images above (in which the chairs only added to the aesthetic of the reception space) these below examples I found online just don’t compare!!
For couples planning their wedding, I hope this post helps inspire you as you’re designing your reception space!! If you have any tips, tricks, or ideas relating to this post, please share in the comments!! We are always looking for ways to help + inspire our brides!! : ) Happy planning!!!
