One of our all-time favorite things to do is spend time outside with Vivian — walking, going for a run, hiking, boating, you name it! Add to the mix some of your best friends + their dog, + we have the makings for a perfect afternoon : )

About 45 minutes from where we live in Madison is a gorgeous Wisconsin State Park called Devil’s Lake. The park has a huge, swimmable lake right in the center, surrounded by two bluffs + miles on miles of hiking trails (we recommend the Devil’s Staircase!). It is one of our favorite places to take Vivian because of how naturally beautiful it is. The views from the top of the bluffs are absolutely breathtaking! Additionally, the trails to the top are a good workout, but definitely an easier hike. Vivian LOVES the paths that zigzag through the rockier portions of the bluffs — in fact, I’m convinced she thinks she’s a little mountain goat + tends to scare us at least once per trip with her leaps + bounds from rock to rock!! If only I was in as good of shape as she is …

Anyway, a couple of weeks ago we took a trip to Devil’s Lake with Shane, Devon, + Koda! It was a cool spring day (with lots of wind!), but we had a blast hiking together + watching the dogs go wild chasing each other without any boundaries : ) Also, how cute is Koda in his little hiking bandana?!
