How I Got $48 Worth of Books for FREE | A Simple Reading Hack.

November 30, 2016

Today’s post is going to be short + sweet … but with one HUGE lifestyle hack for you!! If you love to read, or if you want to start reading more, my hope is that this post will be a game changer for you!

I actually really, REALLY love to read. My mom read to me constantly when I was in the womb (or so she says!) + my sister + I grew up on books. Unfortunately, during our busy season, I don’t have as much time to read as I would like! However, now that things have started slowing down, I’ve found myself with more time to read (yahoo!).

When it comes to “buying” books, Caleb + I learned awhile back that the smartest way to do it … is to not buy at all!! Last year, some friends of ours reminded us about the local Public Library (duh!!) + how you can check out books for FREE!! This isn’t the best part, though. Most local libraries run on a system called Overdrive, which acts as an online public library where you can rent E-BOOKS (Kindle, iPad, etc.) for free + you NEVER have to even leave your house!! Oh my goodness you guys, do we LOVE this system. Whether it be business books or books for personal reading, we borrow everything from Overdrive + download them straight to our devices. It’s the BEST!!

So how did I get $48 worth of books for free, you ask? Well, if I were to walk into Barnes + Noble right now + buy four of my favorite books — East of Eden, How To Win Friends + Influence People, The Nightingale, + The Five Love Languages — I would pay $48.00 at the register. But with Overdrive + our local library, I can read all of these books for free in the comfort of my home + without ever having to leave it : )

Check out Overdrive (or a like system) at your local library + HAPPY reading!!
