Brad & Julie | A Classic Wedding Celebration at The Abbey Resort in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.

We absolutely love shooting at new venues because it is so creatively inspiring. After shooting 100+ weddings, you might think that we have shot at every venue in Wisconsin but we certainly have not! When we met Brad and Julie and learned that they were hosting their wedding day celebration at The Abbey Resort in Lake Geneva, I was thrilled at the opportunity to photograph in a new venue in one of my favorite places in our state. Lake Geneva is such a beautiful area and it reminds me so much of home (which is probably why I like it so much!). The summertime vibe of the city and its harbors is absolutely charming.

Saturday was the most beautiful day which was a huge blessing for Brad and Julie’s celebration! As we get into September and October in Wisconsin, you never quite know what you are going to get weather-wise. Brad and Julie were given a 70 degree day with sunshine and a slight breeze — absolute perfection! The incredible weather must have set the tone for the entire day because when we were saying goodbye to these two at the end of the night, we couldn’t help but comment on how every single part of their day went absolutely right, according to the timeline as just as they had hoped! This isn’t always the case and they were just reveling in the joy and fun and beauty of it all : ) During her toast, the Maid of Honor joked about how organized Julie is and I will say, this organization is what we can credit such a flawless day to! Julie and the team at Evenement Planning did an amazing job and it was truly such a joy to be a part of this day!

I kept commenting all day long on how stunning Julie was but I just couldn’t help it : ) I adored her classic bridal look with a low twist and the structured lines of her timeless gown. Brad didn’t look too bad himself in his custom navy suit from Joseph A. Banks … let’s face it, these two make such a handsome couple! One of my favorite parts of the day was when Brad and Julie’s dog, Bella, joined us for a bit to take photos and then say “hi” to the guests at cocktail hour! We did the same thing with Vivian on our day and I have to say, Bella behaved much better than Vivian did ; )

As we drove home after the wedding and I asked Caleb about his reflections on the day, he immediately said, “It was awesome. They are both just so nice.” I think that simple phrase speaks volumes of these two and is so spot on. They are both hard-working and successful yet down-to-earth. Both kind, gentle, and others-focused. It was SUCH an easy day photographing and serving these two, their families and their friends — and I am so excited to share the photos with you!
