This weekend marks the beginning of wedding season for Maison and I. It’s hard for me to believe, but this will be our sixth wedding season! When I find myself reflecting back on all the memories made and weddings photographed … the amazing people we work(ed) with and the commitments they made to each other, it all seems like a whirlwind. I don’t have the greatest memory when it comes to specific details but this business lets me look back not just on memories but pictures of those memories.

If you would’ve asked me six years ago what I thought I’d be doing in five years, wedding photography wouldn’t have even been on the radar. I’ve always loved cameras and even carried the hobby I picked up in high school to classes at UW-Madison. I never thought that I would be able to use this passion to not only provide for Maison and I, but also to document marriage.

We have always been passionate about marriage. It’s why we do what we do. I am beyond thankful for the trust our couples have shown us to be with them in some of the best memories of their lives. I love getting to cheer them on and celebrate their relationship. In a world that oftentimes makes marriage feel restrictive, we get to be a voice that says otherwise. Marriage is an amazing decision and unlocks unlimited possibilities. It’s a new beginning, together.

There are days when this business feels like a normal job but not wedding days. I still get excited every morning we are photographing a wedding. I get excited to be outside, to be creative, to be with my wife, to experience beautiful memories being made, and most importantly, to celebrate marriage. Being entrepreneurs has definitely had its challenges, but one of the biggest opportunities it has presented us is the freedom to make decisions for US. I’m looking SO forward to the places and people this wedding season has in store for Maison and I.
