Jim & Dana | A 31st Wedding Anniversary Session at The Delafield Fish Hatchery.

July 18, 2018

I am so excited to share today’s post with you! We love marriage and are super passionate about being advocates for marriage in a society that sometimes is not! We always want to support and cheer on couples who choose to get married … and that is one of the biggest reasons we shoot weddings!

But anniversary sessions … my HEART. Couples who choose to intentionally celebrate their marriage year after year are doing something right in my book! Marriage is a huge decision, takes a LOT of work, and has both incredible highs and really tough lows. Because of this, it is so worthy of being celebrated in an extra special way every single year! One way to celebrate it is through photos that document your relationship in different seasons! Whether that be 1 year, 5 years, 10 years, or 31 YEARS like the couple today : )

Jim and Dana are parent’s of one of our past brides and for their 30th Wedding Anniversary last year, she gifted them a session with us! It was a JOY to see these two again (they are truly amazing and so inspirational!!) and an honor to document their marriage for not only them, but their children and future grandchildren <3 So without further adieu, meet Jim & Dana!!!

Where do you two live & what is one of your favorite things about your city?

We live in Pewaukee and enjoy being in the lake country area.

How did you two meet & how long have you been married?

We met through work when Dana, as a pharmaceutical sales rep, called on Jim in his office. We have been married 31 years!

Jim, what is one of your favorite things about Dana? Dana, what is what of your favorite things about Jim?

J: Her beautiful smile and outgoing personality.

D: One of my favorite things about Jim is he has excellent integrity and loves his family deeply.

What has been a day-to-day challenge of marriage that you weren’t necessarily expecting? How do you battle that challenge?

A day to day challenge is having lots of responsibilities which does not always allow for enough fun time together. To work on this challenge we try to plan some activities we enjoy doing together and prioritize going on vacation.

What is one of your favorite things about marriage? What do you love about it?!

Being together with another person who loves you and supports you through the difficult things in life. We love how God blessed us with each other and our family.

What is the hardest thing (or one of) that you have experienced in your marriage? How did you overcome this trial & how has it helped you grow/flourish as a couple?

One of the hardest things we have faced as a couple is caring for and managing many things for Dana’s parents while they lived in AZ. They required help for new living situations, medical problems, and day to day life. We were amazed how God provided practical things and people to help us help Dana’s parents. It was a time of trusting God for His provision and for us to grow stronger as a couple as we worked as a team through many stressful situations.  And now, after moving Dana’s mom back to WI, we continue to work together to help her the best we are able.

If you loved Jim & Dana’s anniversary session, you might enjoy seeing others like it here!
