The thing that sticks out most to me from Ryan and Laura’s day is how loved these two are. I know, I know … this may seem obvious. After all, they are the bride and groom and everyone is gathered on a wedding day to celebrate THEM and the commitment they are making to one another. But I really haven’t seen another couple celebrated like Ryan and Laura’s friends and family did them. It was fun and joyful, yes, but the celebration and love for these two was so deep, sincere, and full of gratefulness. These are the things that made it noticeably different to me. The people in Ryan and Laura’s life don’t just love them, they thoroughly enjoy them and respect them deeply.
Interaction after interaction that I witness spoke to this and speech after speech proved it to be true. Their friend and officiant spoke of how these two really created a family amongst their friend group in college — people who are still as close as ever to this day and lean on and trust one another as if they were their own family. Who says family has to be just by blood anyway?! This friend group is where Ryan and Laura first met during their undergrad at The University of Wisconsin-Madison eight years ago and their friends shared of how fun it was to watch these two start dating and fall in love : )
On their special day, Laura got ready at her childhood home which is always so special for me to be a part of! Laura’s bridesmaids included family, friends from childhood, friends from her undergrad here in the Midwest, and friends from her and Ryan’s time spent living on the East Coast. It was really fun to get to meet everyone and see all the different worlds collide!
Ryan and Laura got married on the rooftop of The Madison Museum of Contemporary Art which has just the most spectacular views of downtown Madison and the State Capitol! So fun for all of their out-of-state guests! We did many of their photos on the UW-Madison campus and when we walked out on the (VERY populated) Memorial Union Terrace for a couple of shots with the famous terrace chairs, the ENTIRE TERRACE started clapping and cheering for Ryan and Laura! I’m not sure how much they liked the attention IN the moment but we all can agree now that it was such a cool memory!! All day long they got so many congratulations and well wishes from people on campus, on State Street, and at the Capitol : )
The night ended with their reception at The Orpheum Theater on State Street which was such a unique and cool venue for the dinner and dance! All the guests kept commenting on how fun it was to get to eat dinner IN the theater! Then, when the curtain rolled up and the Bluewater Kings Band started playing for the dance, everyone was in awe and partied the night away!! What an AMAZING DAY, Ryan and Laura! Thank you for sharing your lives and your incredible selves AND families and friends with us!! We love you and hope you enjoy some of our favorites from your day!!!
