Today, we wanted to take a minute to give encouragement to the married couples that read our blog. And if you aren’t married, maybe a bit of hope/excitement for what you can expect if you do get married some day! We’ve been married just over nine months + we are finding more + more every day that, yes, there are challenges in marriage, but more often + important are the beautiful victories that come along with marriage. There are SO many good things about marriage (cue typical joke about intimacy), however, lately the idea of “teamwork” within our marriage has been strongly on our hearts.
When we got married, we knew that the best way to make our marriage successful was firstly rely heavily on our faith + Jesus Christ, + secondly, to work as a TEAM to tackle challenges that we couldn’t possibly overcome by ourselves. We both have completely different strengths + at times, this can be extremely frustrating. However, ultimately, these differences lead us to better places we would never get to alone.
As many of you know, Maison + I will be signing on our very first condo tomorrow!! This step in our marriage came a lot sooner than either of us anticipated, + it’s because we made the goal of moving into our own place a priority. We took the steps necessary + put in the hard work, sweat, + tears to be able to make this dream of ours a reality. Maison sacrificed nights out for dinner + shopping trips to the mall, while I sacrificed my fear of debt + financial security (can you see our different personalities here?!), but it was through these sacrifices that we made TOGETHER that we are able to make this dream a reality.
So, what are we trying to get at here? Simply to tell you that no matter how big (or small) your dreams are, if you share them with each other + take the necessary action steps to make those dreams a reality, you will not only see how powerful this concept of teamwork really is, but you will also gain a deeper admiration for your spouse + your marriage. Tackling goals together has been one of the greatest rewards for us in our marriage so far + we think that’s how it’s supposed to be : ) What are your goals + dreams? Will you join us in tackling them, together?
