When Lauren suggested Devil’s Lake for her and Joe’s engagement session, I was SO happy! This is one of my favorite places to shoot in the Madison area and this shoot again proves why : ) The views are unbeatable and so unique for this area, it is truly the perfect backdrop for a photo session! Especially a session on a cloudy day where there aren’t a lot of people out and about! It was like we had the whole place to ourselves!

I met Joe and Lauren in the parking lot near the beach and we walked to our first location. I was immediately struck by their calming presence — it felt like I had known them for a long time. They were down-to-earth, easy to talk to, and both really positive. Joe also has this really amazing laugh and awesome smile that lights up his whole face … it instantly makes you feel really good inside when you’re around him : ) That’s the best way I can describe it! Lauren is stunning and she just has this “cool” vibe about her. She is so sweet and I noticed that she always made really good eye contact with me when we were talking, which made me feel super loved throughout the session!

I learned that these two fell pretty fast for each other — both successful working professionals who grew up in the Madison area but never met until their adult years … bonding over a love of late night pizza, good food and drinks, time spent with friends, and summer days on the lake : ) They are so obviously in love with each other and their relationship just felt so natural. I’m SO excited to get to photograph their wedding day next August (it is going to be BEAUTIFUL!!) but until then, here are some of my favorite snaps from their engagement session last week!!
