In 2013, I officially started my business as a wedding photographer. One year later, when we got married, Caleb joined me full-time and we have spent the 13 years photographing something we are both so very passionate about: marriage. When I look back on the memories we have made, experiences we have shared, and people we have met through our business, I am OVERWHELMED with gratitude and emotion, to say the least.
One unexpected joy that has come with being a wedding photographer is getting to photograph what comes after the wedding. And, when I really think about it, this “after” part is what marriage is all about anyway. The celebration of the commitment made on the wedding day through milestone anniversary sessions. The building of something new together as a family grows from two … to three … to four. 11 years into my own marriage, and with two beautiful miracle babes, I feel more connected to this kind of documentation than ever before.
Many of the families in this post began as “wedding clients.” At the time of their celebrations, I really had no idea where this beloved business was going to take me but gosh, am I so thankful to be along for the ride. I know I say it all the time, but it is truly my greatest honor to do this kind of work.
