At the end of December, we had the great privilege of shooting Skylar + Laura’s wedding in Phoenix, Arizona (+ in case you missed it, you can see their beautiful images here!) Since neither Caleb nor I had ever been to Arizona before, we decided to stay a couple of extra days to explore the desert + see some of its great sites!! (We also had an incredible opportunity that I am going to share more about on Friday, so stay tuned!!)
Today on the blog, I’m sharing some of our personal images from our time in Arizona, including our hike up Camelback Mountain + our trip to the Grand Canyon!! ENJOY!! Oh, + if you ever have the chance to visit Arizona, I highly recommend it!! I am in love!!!
We arrived to our hotel on Christmas night + woke up to the most beautiful site out our window–palm trees + SUN!!
Then we stumbled across a succulent that looks EXACTLY like one we have in a tiny pot by the window in our apartment–only 100x the size!!
We could not believe how big the cacti were!!!
The day after the wedding, we decided to hike Camelback Mountain in Phoenix–famous for it’s incredible views!! We are SO glad we did!!
We seriously had to climb with our hands + feet + full body strength–this thing was serious!! I have never done a hike like this before, but I have to admit, it was AMAZING!! (And scary at times!!)
So studly!!!
This is a shot of Camelback from the city at night–can you see why they call it Camelback?! The head is in the center-left of the photo, then the two humps follow to the right!!
On Tuesday we decided to make a trip to the Grand Canyon because although it was 4 hours away, we knew we were as close as we had ever been + would regret not taking the opportunity to see it while we could!! We took a scenic route (recommended to us by family of the bride + groom) that took us through the red rocks of Sedona …
… and the vastness of the Oak Creek Valley!!
Upon our arrival to the Grand Canyon, we discovered this Barbie shoe in the parking lot + I thought it was hilarious … ?!?! Maybe weird or creepy? Either way, I had to take a pic!!
Then we followed the signs to the Grand Canyon + all of a sudden, the walking paths opened up to this:
I know they say it all the time, but the pictures DON’T do it justice!!! The depth + vastness of this place is mind-blowing!!
Until next time, AZ!!!!
