One of the many, many details to think about as you are planning your wedding is the gifts for your bridal party! We’ve found that most of our brides want to intentionally gift their bridesmaids with something that will show their great appreciation for all of the support, help with planning, and time given to everything that goes into planning a wedding day : )
When we were planning our wedding, I knew I wanted to gift my bridesmaids with a gift that was unique and, most importantly, one that actually meant something to them. I wish I could say that I thought up this idea on my own, but I actually got it from a friend of mine who also did this for her bridesmaids on her wedding day — gifting heirloom jewelry.
Six months prior to our wedding day, I contacted either the moms or sisters of all of my bridesmaids and told them that I wanted to collect jewelry from each of the girl’s mothers and/or grandmothers, to be made into a special, custom-made, new piece of jewelry for them as their bridesmaid gift. Everyone was completely on board (and loved the idea!), helping me get earrings, rings, bracelets, necklaces, etc. from each of my bridesmaids mothers and grandmothers. Once collected, I gave these pieces to the jeweler who I worked with on this project and she took them and turned them into a custom jewelry piece for each girl. Three of my bridesmaids ended up with bracelets and two of them with necklaces : )
The best, BEST part of the whole experience was watching the girls open their custom pieces at the rehearsal dinner and then getting to explain to them HOW each piece was made. Several of my bridesmaids had jewelry incorporated from deceased grandmothers and one of them from her mom who had passed away when she was younger — it was just SO speical to have their own “new” jewelry piece made from heirlooms of the special women in their life.
My ONLY regret from this whole experience is that I never took pictures of the girl’s pieces before I gifted them! Ahhhh, how could I forget that, right?! Even though I have no pictures, however, I still wanted to share this idea with bride-to-be’s because I LOVED it so much for my own wedding/bridesmaids (and they loved it to!!). If you end up doing this for your girls, please let me know! I want to hear how it went and see YOUR pics since I don’t have my own 😉 Happy planning!!
