Before Alex + Jen booked us for their wedding, we had never met them. I’ll never forgot our initial phone call, either, as they were the only couple I talked to the week of our own wedding last August (their call was actually the only “work” I did that week) + I am SO glad I did. I remember sitting in my aunt + uncle’s home office (we got married at their home) + chatting with both Jen + Alex on the phone about their relationship, the upcoming wedding (theirs + ours!), + the things in life they were passion about. Amidst a somewhat stressful week of preparing for our wedding, I remember leaving that conversation feeling SO excited + refreshed. It was JUST what I needed in the middle of that week, in fact. Lo + behold, these two must have felt the same connection I did because a matter of hours later, they emailed saying they HAD to have Caleb + I shoot their wedding.
And as far as the rest of our relationship goes, it’s been just that. We HAD to be there. They certainly made that known to us … all the time. It’s so amazing when people come into your life + make you feel SO LOVED in just a short amount of time. We always hope that our clients feel loved by US, but these two, they made SURE that we felt loved by them. Yes, they made us feel like the greatest photographers in the world with their compliments + encouragement, but more than that, they made us feel VALUED + loved as simply two human beings doing life alongside them. Our relationship went from client/photographer to friends SO quickly : ) For their love, we can never thank them enough, + for their friendship, we are just so grateful : )
The funny thing is (I guess it’s not really funny, but …), on their wedding day, it seems that everyone had the same things to say about this incredible couple. The priest (who came all the way up from Chicago to officiate their wedding – something he told us he never does), spoke about their sincerity + joy. How he was HONORED to officiate their wedding + wanted to be there to celebrate their marriage. Had to be there, actually. Toasts at the reception were filled with words like “generous” … “selfless” … “great + real friends.” Parents told us how proud they were + how Jen + Alex are a perfect couple : ) And of course, we can all agree now that it’s pretty amazing how two people can be SO kind + loved by all, AND so good-looking!!! What a pair ; )
I’m simply going to let the day speak for itself through the photos in the blog post. It was a JOYOUS day (Jen texted me the next day saying that their cheeks hurt from smiling so much)! : ) A joyous, beautiful day with two friends we love SO dearly <3 Enjoy!
This rosary + cross was held by both Jen’s grandmother + mother on their wedding days in their bouquets!! Maybe one day Jen will have a daughter who will continue the tradition : )
On the night before the wedding, Alex surprised Jen with a journal he had been keeping since they got engaged … all the things he loved about her, so many of their memories, + his excitement to finally be able to call her his wife <3
Someone’s ready to get the show on the road!!! ; )
An emotional daddy-daughter first look <3

During dinner, Alex + Jen made their guests play a game if they wanted them to kiss! They had a small pail filled with “dares” for their guests to complete if they wanted the newlyweds to kiss …
… most of them consisted of CrossFit moves, since the couple is heavily involved in it!! Too cute + FUNNY!!! (Yes, those are women doing burpees in dresses)!!!
Love, love this one : )
The wonderful vendors who made this day go off without a hitch!! And beautifully at that!!
