The Start of a New Series | A Day In Our Life | Sharing Ourselves With You.

January 31, 2016

Happy February, you guys! : ) Today, on this cold, middle-of-the-winter Monday, we find no better time than to launch a brand new “forever series” that has been on our hearts for awhile now. While this blog was initially started to share images from our client’s sessions + weddings with them (+ with all of you!), we also found it a place to share things we were experiencing in our lives — both good + hard. And in sharing those tidbits with you over the past couple of years, we’ve found that we have been able to connect with people in a special way we didn’t necessarily expect would happen, but hoped would happen : ) Our “personal” posts have become some of our most popular, so we’ve been brainstorming a way to curate these posts + organize them here in our little hub of the internet : )

That’s Part I to the launch of this series. The second part is this: we are, obviously, more than just wedding photographers. That is our profession + we feel beyond blessed, truly, to get to call this love of ours our “career”. However, we aren’t just wedding photographers, but also husband + wife … two very real people who are trying to navigate the courses of life that come our way together. Two people who are passionate about marriage + seeking new ways to be intentional with loving + pursuing one another. Two people who have a mild (or, in all honestly, really ginormous) obsession with their dog … who can never get enough Chipotle, love “antique-ing”, spending time with friends + family, trying to eat healthy + workout, + always up for a trip to experience a new city, state, or country. Those are just some other really important things about us, + we want to share those things with you, too.

Both our work AND our life. That’s what this blog is about.

Caleb actually came up with this idea all together, + I love him for it (among many, many other things) : ) In this new series, A Day In Our Life, we will be sharing all kinds of things with you — quirky, real moments + experiences that we’ve shared together as a husband + wife. From a date night we recently had, to an antique store outing (+ hopefully awesome finds!), to a day at home + what that actually looks like for us. We’re excited, SO excited, to simply share our lives with you. Who we are, truly, + what a day as us might look like : )

SO … today’s post begins it all by welcoming you into our past weekend with Caleb’s family! Caleb is the oldest sibling of three with a younger brother (James) + younger sister (Tori). Caleb’s brother, James, recently got promoted at his job + is moving (as we speak!), to Atlanta, Georgia! On his way down to GA, he is stopping to visit friends + family to break up the length of the trip driving. He spent the first part of the weekend with us in Madison, so Tori (who also lives in Madison + is a student at the UW) came over, + so did Caleb’s dad, Steve! Steve lives about three hours away, so it was a wonderful unexpected visit since it was potentially the last time all of these guys will be in the same place together for awhile because James is moving!

(I took this pic right after everyone woke up, oops! But they said I could post it)!! : )

We spent Friday night cooking (there’s a great + easy recipe for hosting a bigger meal below), playing board games, + just hanging out together at home. It was a really relaxing, fun, + simply wonderful time together : ) I absolutely cherish these kind of memories + moments of people gathered in our home!! They fill my heart in a really special way : )

We made it super easy to save this recipe to your computer if interested!

Our current game obsession is Ticket to Ride. Caleb won … obviously. He ALWAYS wins!!!!! (I have yet to win a single game, but I still LOVE it)!!

The boys went to REI because Caleb, James + I are leaving for Costa Rica on Friday (!!!!) + James had to get new hiking boots!
