Phillip + Kristin | Engaged | A Downtown Madison Engagement Session at The State Capitol + James Madison Park.

When you live nearly 2,000 miles apart, time together — in person — is so special + absolutely cherished. How lucky were we to get to spend time with Phillip + Kristin during the rare four days they were together this past week!?! They were SO excited, so joyful, SO happy to be together … and we got to capture it all right before our eyes!! I told them during the session that as much as I felt sad for them that they had to be so long distance during this season of their lives (Caleb + I know this well!), I was also secretly kind of happy because … well … it made their photos + session just SO great!! : ) Again, the joy. I just love the way it radiates from their entire BEING + even outward more + more from each photograph! How can you not be happy looking at these?!? Phillip + Kristin are such a perfect match + we feel just HONORED at the opportunity to document this season of their beautiful love story!!

It’s a love story that is almost NINE years in the making!! Phillip asked Kristin out when he was a sophomore in high school + she was a junior (way to go, Phillip!!). The funniest part of it all is that they dated behind his parent’s back for an entire YEAR!! (Okay, maybe not so funny … sorry Mr. + Mrs. Debbink!!). I think it’s kinda cute … especially now that they’re getting married : ) These two have been through so many different seasons of life together … including their current season that has Phillip living in California + Kristin in her fourth + final year of med school!!! These two have a lot going on!! But supporting one another is something they are SO good at : )

Kristin + Phillip — thank you for making US feel so special + loved in such a short time knowing the two of you! Thank you for your kindness + for being YOURSELVES. We love your hearts, authenticity, + all your little quirks : ) You know what we’re talking about!! You have inspired us with your positivity, drive, + commitment to one another, + we cannot WAIT until the day you become husband + wife!!
