Blake and Elizabeth | A Lakeside Engagement Session at Hartman Creek State Park in Waupaca, Wisconsin.

August 14, 2018

In their initial inquiry with us, Elizabeth shared how passionate she and Blake are about marriage. “We understand that marriage takes hard work, communication, honesty, respect, and pursuing God. We hope to one day be an encouragement to others.” I just LOVE this! What wisdom before they are even married. To be truly honest and respectful in communication with your spouse … that is no small feat. To recognize that marriage will take hard work … AMEN! To yearn for those things and to have a desire to support and encourage others in their own marriage journeys … we totally resonate with these things and it is so special to get to cheer these two on as they begin their story together!

Blake and Elizabeth actually went to the same (very small) high school but didn’t ever talk all throughout their early schooling days. Off to college they both went, never once thinking that their future spouse would be someone from their hometown! When both home for Easter a couple of years later, they connected for the first time and the rest is history. They will both say that just two days after truly meeting one another, they knew they had met their future spouse : ) I just love it!!!! Because they were right — here we are!!

Some of the things these two desire in their marriage are things that I already see in their relationship — and I only met them for the first time in person for a couple of hours! They are SO respectful and kind to one another … and yet playful and goofy at the same time : ) The speak so highly of one another and the way that they look at each other just shows the respect that is there. When they were changing outfits, Caleb said to me, “Just tell them to look at one another and you don’t ever have to give another cue!” Amen!! It was so inspiring to chat with them about what they are already doing to build a strong foundation for their future as well as the dreams they have for their marriage and future family.

Blake and Elizabeth — YAY!! Thanks for sharing your lives with us. It has already been SUCH a joy to get to know the two of you! We cannot wait to photograph your wedding next June but until then, enjoy some of our favorites from your session!!!!

A really fun note about this session is that it took place in my hometown … randomly! Both Blake and Elizabeth love horseback riding and on one of their first dates, he surprised her with a trip to ride at Hartman Creek State Park in Waupaca (<<my hometown!). When Elizabeth told me she wanted to do their session there because it was a special place to them, I couldn’t believe the connection! So fun : )

If you loved Blake and Elizabeth’s session, you might enjoy others like it here!
