About every two or so months, it’s that time for Vivian to get a haircut. I personally think her hair grows really fast, but maybe that’s normal for dogs!! Caleb also likes her hair longer + I like it shorter, so it’s an ongoing conversation about when its finally gotten too long : )
One of our past brides is actually a really fantastic dog groomer at a holistic dog grooming salon here in Madison, so when we do actually take Vivian to the professional groomer, we take her to Kari!! The grooming salon is called Tabby & Jack’s, + they really do treat the dogs like little humans there (if you’re living in Madison + looking for a groomer, we highly recommend it)!! However, since I actually like cutting hair — I cut Caleb’s hair, too! Maybe that’s a different blog post, ha!! ; ) — I like to do Vivian’s myself sometimes! And it also saves us some money : ) We usually take her to Tabby & Jack’s every three or four haircuts because they can straighten out my jagged-y cutting + missed spots ; ) hehe!
It actually takes both Caleb + I to cut Vivian because while I’m cutting, he rubs + pets her + tells her how good of a girl she is : ) It really does keep her calm throughout the whole process!! All in all, I would say the whole process takes us between 30-60 minutes!!
Before the cut … yikes!! Too long! She looks like a little street dog!
I always brush all the snarls out before cutting. Since Vivian doesn’t shed, we usually have to give her a thorough brushing once or twice a week!
And … it’s out! I use Caleb’s hair trimmers to cut her hair, too! Is that weird!?!
The legs are by far the hardest part in my opinion!!
SO MUCH HAIR!!
The finished product!! So much better!! And cuter ; )!!!
