Their first date was at Dotty Dumpling’s, a Madison classic known for its famously delicious hamburgers. Erik and Mo connected right away and a second date was immediately planned : ) Their shared loved for outdoor activities and travel adventures, among many other things, has continued to strengthen their relationship over the years. And now, here they are planning the wedding of their dreams! We are so grateful to be a part of their team!
We began Erik and Mo’s session at, where else(?), Dotty Dumplings! I love that these two wanted to document where their story began. I have a feeling Dotty’s is going to be around for awhile but just in case it isn’t, I think it’s so special to have photos in this spot. It’s like a historical marker, of sorts. I can just see them looking back on these photos in 30+ years and saying, “Look how different it all looks! Look at the cars! Look how young we were!” Thinking about these things is a really big part of my “why.” It gives me these tangible feelings of love and warmth.
After a quick stop at Dotty’s, we headed to The Memorial Union for some photos by one of the city’s most beautiful buildings (in my opinion!) as well as by the lake. We reminisced a little bit about our time as students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and about those first days on campus since there was a lot of new freshmen roaming around : ) Erik & Mo now have very successful careers and it doesn’t surprise me in the least — they are BOTH extremely kind, driven, genuine, smart, and also very humble. I came home from the session and told Caleb, “I had SUCH a great time with them! They are truly so nice and I loved getting to know them!!!” We also found out that we have several of those ‘small-world’ connections with Erik and Mo which is simply the icing on the cake : )
Our time together ended with an incredible sunset — equal parts beautiful and peaceful — on the Terrace. We listened to country music and continued chatting until it was time for me to say goodbye and let these to get to a little date night! I am excited to share a few favorites from their session and we are so looking forward to their celebration at The Edgewater next summer! CHEERS, you two!
