There is a very short window in the fall where you can take photos downtown at the State Capitol and also get fall color! I love the combination of the historic white architecture with the fall leaves and I am SO happy that Travis and Kasey’s engagement session this past weekend fit in that window! When you specifically add in Kasey’s beige dress to the mix, it’s a match made in heaven!

We met Travis and Kasey downtown for a drink before their session began. This was not something Caleb and I were planning for but when we got a text from them the morning of the session, we absolutely couldn’t say no! Travis and Kasey simply wanted to hang out, get to know one another better, and share a cocktail (at one of our favorite places might I add!) before taking photos for their session. This kind and generous gesture meant SO MUCH to Caleb and I and we loved our time with these two at The Merchant! We got to learn so much more about these two … where they’re from … how they met … etc. : ) They are both so easy to talk to and it really was just so special to share this time!

We then headed out for photos and OH my gosh, these two are just naturals in front of the camera! As EVERYONE is, they were both a bit nervous going into the shoot but after about one or two minutes, I stopped them because I just had to share what I was thinking. “When you guys said you were nervous and camera-shy, I was definitely expecting this to go a certain way and IT IS NOT!!!” Their JOY together is through the roof and I love their playful, FUN, and yet tender interactions with one another. Travis so clearly adores Kasey and I love how he can make her laugh. Her smile will light up a room (or all of downtown Madison in this case!) and I just could have photographed them all night long!!
