It is so fun to get to share a WEDDING on the blog today! This is not a commonplace in these winter months so what a treat it was to get an email from Trish a few months ago saying that she and her fiancé were looking for a photographer for a small ceremony at the Capitol in February! Count us in!

Rusty is from Scotland, just moving to the US only four years ago. Since all of his family lives in Scotland, he and Trish are planning a big Scottish wedding celebration for next summer! But until then, they wanted to get married where Trish is from right here in Madison! A ceremony in the stunning State Capitol with their closest family as witnesses was the perfect fit for these two.

For the ceremony, Rusty and Trish planned to marry in front of Trish’s grandmother, mother, brother and his girlfriend. Rusty’s family would Skype in for the ceremony from Scotland! However, Rusty’s mom had different plans ; ) She decided there was no way she could miss her son’s wedding ceremony and surprised these two by flying over from Scotland for the event. They were so HAPPILY surprised! What an incredible gift to have her there!

What a true honor it was to capture these two on their wedding day, one they both had been waiting for for a long time. The stars aligned for these two to meet in Chicago, where they now live, and be married on a beautiful winter day in February. Their love for one another is evident as you just watch them interact, filled with tenderness, respect, and sincerity.

After the ceremony, Rusty, Trish and their families headed to Eno Vino downtown for a rooftop drink and then to Rare Steakhouse for dinner. What a night! As we were leaving, Rusty’s mom joked with me that she has “never been so cold in her life!” Welcome to Wisconsin, I told her ; )
