Today you get to meet the seven amazing families we had the opportunity to photograph this past weekend for our summer mini sessions! We held the sessions at Cross Plains Interpretive Site, one of our favorite hidden spots to spend time and hike! There are a few groves of really tall, old trees that are a stunning backdrop for photos and also work well with the lighting no matter the time of the day! Those two things, combined with a short walk from where clients have to park, made it a great spot for our sessions : )
But this is no joke — again this time around we dealt with super crazy weather! I looked back just to see and literally every past mini session blog post I’ve written about how the weather was really unpredictable the day of the session (we plan these out months in advance, by the way!) and we had to make a really tough decision about whether or not to move forward with the sessions. I swear by now we have to be due for the most gorgeous, worry-free weather day!
Earlier in the week and even the day before the sessions, it looked like there was NO way we would be able to have them due to an 85+% chance of thunderstorms. However, we don’t like to make a final call about sessions and weather until we can, at the very minimum, see the hourly forecast. This is because – as we all know – Wisconsin weather can change so quick and SO much! As the afternoon approached on the day of the sessions, the highest chance of rain was 15%, so we decided to go for it! I’m so glad we did and the sun even came out for a few sessions! It was wild.
We had new babies, puppies, old clients and brand new ones … it was a FULL and amazing day photographing these wonderful families : ) We’re not sure if we will be doing more mini sessions later this year, but if you want to get on our email list specifically for mini sessions (those on this list get to know about the dates and have a chance to sign up before we release them to the public a week later!), email me at maisonandcaleb@maisonmeredith.com : ) Otherwise, ENJOY these photos and I hope they bring a smile to your face today!!!
