Jacob and Bethel wanted to get married this year, no matter what. They opted for a super intimate ceremony with both of their immediate families at one of their absolute favorite places, The Schlitz Audubon Nature Center. It was a cloudy, rainy day … and my goodness was it romantic.
We arrived at the Schlitz to wood-burning fires roaring in each of the fireplaces. The leaves were just starting to turn on all of the trees and the damp foliage surrounding us was lush and breathtaking. Bethel and her mom were together in one of the upstairs rooms and spent the morning just the two of them, preparing for the very special and long-awaited day ahead : )
I will only say it once but I could never over-emphasize how much I loved the intimacy of this day. Both Jacob and Bethel were surrounded by their parents, siblings, and Jacob’s grandmother. It was truly two-families-becoming-one and there was such an intentional focus on this commitment.
The ceremony took place outdoors under a great canopy of trees overlooking a vast gorge below. Caleb mentioned it feeling like we were in an enchanted forest and we all couldn’t agree more! There were SO MANY happy tears and some very excited “I Dos” as well : ) Following the ceremony, both families gathered back in the Great Hall for cocktails by the fireplace … which were accompanied with a heavy side of laughter, storytelling, and dancing. The evening ended with a beautiful dinner as everyone shared toasts and a really (really) delicious meal together.
Jacob & Bethel, you were so present and SO joyful all day long – it was such an amazing day to bear witness to! Thank you, thank you for having us. We are over-the-moon excited for you and hope you’re having the best time together in the Great Smoky Mountains! : ) Without further adieu, enjoy some of our favorite moments from your day – we LOVE you!
Thank you to Jacob & Bethel’s wedding day team!
