“Let’s party like it’s June 6, 2020!” read the sign welcoming guests to Taylor & Lauren’s one year vow renewal celebration this past weekend. Just over one year ago, we were with these two and their immediate families as they became husband and wife during an intimate ceremony at Blessed Sacrament Church. This year, we were able to document (and party!) with their guests like it was that day all over again and there was SO much joy!
Taylor & Lauren began their celebration with a vow renewal ceremony on the outdoor plaza at The Edgewater Hotel in downtown Madison. With Lake Mendota in the background, the Wisconsin State Capitol before them, and the sun shining overhead, you really couldn’t have asked for anything better. Lauren waited to wear her wedding dress, and Taylor his tux, until this celebration and I really thought it made the day feel extra special when they got to see each other for the first time : ) Lauren’s dress was very unique and absolutely BEAUTIFUL on her … the sparkles just glistened in the sun! Taylor could not stop commenting on how incredible she looked and it truly made me smile all day long!
I can’t end this post without mentioning two moments during the toasts that really stuck out to me. Lauren’s dad shared that despite all the difficult decisions this couple needed to make over the course of their wedding planning journey, they truly remained positive the entire time. Both Taylor & Lauren work in medicine and her dad had all the frontline workers stand for a moment of acknowledgement during his speech. It was a really, really powerful moment to see nearly half the room stand while the other half clapped for and thanked them. What a year it has been. And then secondly, during his toast, Taylor’s brother described that yet again, another difficult decision for the couple was to postpone the big celebration but still get married last year. As hard as this was for them, he described how it was also beautiful to have such an intimate day last year with both of their families. These two have had such a good and vitally important perspective over the past year & and I am grateful for the reminders they gave to me as we shared in their celebration this past weekend : )
So, without further adieu, HAPPIEST One Year Anniversary, Taylor & Lauren! Here’s to many, many, MANY more to come!
