A little over one year ago, Nick & Anna were married before their immediate families in one of our only weddings of 2020. It was a truly special and intimate experience and I remember that on that day, Nick & Anna were completely unsure as to whether or not this year’s celebration would even be able to happen. Well, IT DID!! Last weekend, the Vissers were able to renew their vows and have a blessing ceremony at a mass filled with their family and friends! I am so happy for them and thankful they were able to have this experience. After a difficult year, with even more added stress for them as med students with clinicals / board exams / etc., I am grateful Nick & Anna could pause and revel in this joy that is their marriage union!!
We FINALLY got to meet Nick & Anna’s siblings and best friends as we spent the morning with their bridal party getting ready for the day! We all agreed that the day felt extra calm and stress-free : ) The girls got ready at the cutest and most eclectic Airbnb in downtown Madison … a house in which you cannot NOT be happy by just stepping foot inside! We then walked around campus, taking photos in some of UW’s most iconic spots before heading back to St. Paul’s University Catholic Center for the ceremony : ) As Nick & Anna made their way down the aisle, together this time, I couldn’t help but notice the tears of gratitude and joy in Anna’s eyes. It felt like a very powerful moment with the organ on high and the harmonies of the singers echoing through the sanctuary.
Immediately following the ceremony, guests headed upstairs for the reception where they were greeted with drinks, an impeccable charcuterie spread by Blue Plate Catering, and some of the BEST sunset views in all of Madison on St. Paul’s rooftop terrace (Bascom Hill, Lake Mendota, State Street & The Capitol all in one!!!). I cannot conclude this post without mentioning the toast given by Nick’s father and sister. After an equal-parts witty and incredibly thoughtful toast by his dad, Nick’s sister sang a song for the couple (to the tune of Piano Man) outlining Nick & Anna’s story. The entire room was in tears (both from laughing and the sentiment) as they joined in on the “la, la, la-dee-das”. It was truly such a special evening and we are incredibly thankful to have been a part of it. So, without further adieu, congratulations once again to the VISSERS! We love you!
