It’s my favorite post of the entire year : ) For us, this post is an opportunity to look back on, and reflect on, the wedding celebrations we were able to be a part of because of each one of the incredible couples you see in the photos below. These couples mean so very much to us … over the course of our time spent working together, we really do get to know them well and they become like friends to Caleb & I. Being a part of one of their most important days, and sharing so intimately in the moments of those days right alongside them, makes me teary as I reflect with so much gratitude.

This was a big year for us — year TEN of photographing weddings! A decade of sharing in these sacred moments with hundreds of couples. It’s truthfully kind of hard to believe that it’s been that long … and that we’ve gotten to know that many people. Our clients have forever impacted our lives with their unique stories and experiences, their generosity, and their love for both one another and for us. We are truly so fortunate.

Every year brings changes for us both personally and professionally, as we learn and grown and continue to discover what works best for us in this life and in this business. As hard as it can be at times to say “no” to some of the amazing couples that show up in our inbox, we continue to scale back and take less weddings so that we can be MORE PRESENT for those whom we do get to work with AND for our family. This change of ‘less is more’ has been foundational for the health of our Engel crew and, I think, has allowed us to create some of the most heartfelt work of our careers.
